About the event

In the guest lecture for the graduate students of international relations, diplomacy, security studies and political science at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Dr Svetluša Surová, President and Senior Researcher (Minority Issues Research Institute-MIRI) discussed rights-based research in social sciences and its importance. Trying to explain to the students the challenges and practical implications of this kind of examination. She also explained the value of rights-based research for science, policymaking and the general public.


Dr Surová argued in a guest lecture that focusing on the rights and freedoms of members of Roma communities during the COVID-19 pandemic can contribute to the prevention of discrimination against members of the Roma national minority in Slovakia in the development of public policies in the future.
